Main Event Update

1 min read

Anyone who has read this blog for a long time, may recall that there was a freeroll to the 2008 Main Event held at the Loose Cannon, won by big Mark. Mark deferred his entry to 2009, and I have just had word that he is doing rather well in the Main Event over in Vegas as we speak.

The big man, affectionately known as “The Racist” (although I should reassure anyone who doesn’t know him that he is not a racist at all - long story) charged upto about 240k in chips by dinner time on Day 2b, before indulging in a spot of chip donking in the last two hours to finish on 187k. He is thus very well placed to make a serious run at this and, of course, if he were to make the final table, I’m sure we’d all be back over there to cheer him on in November.

Still 2100 players to go though, so way too early for such heady thoughts, but with the average at about 90k he is well placed to at least make the money. The Racist plays again on Friday, when the whole field comes together for the first time. While he occasionally plays as a cash game spewtard, he is a tournament demon, and will measure up well against the field with his mix of relentless aggression and fearlessness. His dry wit could also certainly rub some people up the wrong way, especially some younger players. Come on the big man!

I see James Keys is also flying, so good luck to him also. A list of the top 10 Brits are below going into Day 3 is below:

Latimer, Adam 340,100 Keys, James 278,200
Akenhead, James 240,200 Skrypec, Mark 187,700
Suarez, Neil 186,500 Pavlicek, Tommy 182,800 Smith, Asa 176,700 Roberts, Jamie 169,500
Stacey, Dwayne 162,600 Nicholson, Stu 158,300
