Cliches and Honest Dave
The LC dealer “Honest Dave” detests poker cliches. I imagine this is because he has heard them so many times over the last 3 years, but clearly once you have identified something that winds someone up you must pursue it relentlessly.
When playing with Dave, A9 v KJ becomes “almost a classic race”. Any time the blinds go up when it’s your big blind, you must say “Always on my blind”, even if it’s the first time is has happened in the tournament. In games involving Dave, players “drown in the river” and “turn boats”.
I also have a theory (as yet untested) that Dave will detest the use of Deuce for a “2”, Trey for a “3” and “Knave” for a Jack. Tomorrow night I will attempt to incorporate these whenever he is in earshot and report results. With a bit of luck I will “turn a boat, treys full of deuces”, or hit a “straight to the knave”. :) :)
